Abstract :
This paper reports improvement of the value of the fine structure constant /spl alpha/ by an extensive evaluation of the /spl alpha//sup 4/ term of the electron anomalous magnetic moment a/sub e/. This will enable us to obtain a value of /spl alpha/ with a precision exceeding 1 part in 10/sup 9/ when new measurements of a/sub e/ become available.
