Abstract :
The mapping of coded bits to constellation symbols plays an important role in determining the bit error rate performance of bit interleaved coded modulation systems. In this paper, we investigate the optimization of multi-dimensional mapping for bit interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding over block fading MIMO channels. To introduce the optimized mappings, cost function is derived based on upper bound on the pairwise error probability. The optimized mappings perform better than the conventional mapping, and other proposed mappings.
