Abstract :
The peanut shell, an agricultural waste by-product, has been modified with AlCl3 and used for fluorine removal. Factors affecting the adsorption behavior of fluorine, such as the adsorbent dosage, solution pH, initial fluorine concentration and adsorption time, were then investigated. The fluorine removal percentage was 98.9% by 20 g/L modified peanut shell in the 10 mg/L fluorine solution at pH7 and 25±2□. Results suggested it is an ideal candidate for the treatment of fluorine contaminated drinking water.
