Abstract :
Mobile and personnel location systems are becoming more and more common and important. To offer a standardized way of communication with location based services, the LIF (Ref.2) forum developed a protocol know as the mobile location protocol. This protocol gives a way of talking to external applications giving enough information about the position, speed, altitude and some other data. As one of the strongest applications in location is the vehicle location service, there are many different devices that can be used inside an automobile. There is need to develop a proper extension to MLP that could be used to get general data from those devices and also to activate certain devices that can be attached to the locator one. This work describes a proposal for an MLP extension in this area.
