Abstract :
One-Way Street is a common traffic management method implemented in central districts of big cities. This study aims at quantitatively analyzing the effects of One-Way Street on reductions of traffic congestion and travel delay. Based on summarizing the classification, advantages, disadvantages, and implementation conditions of One-Way Street, this study takes the central district of Kunming as an example to model the urban road network and evaluate the current traffic conditions. And then, this study proposes three One-Way Street schemes, and quantitatively analyzes these schemes based on road network saturation (V/C) and travel delay. Finally, Comprehensive Grading method is applied to evaluate and compare the effects of these schemes. The result of the analysis shows that One-Way Street is effective to alleviate traffic congestions especially in urban central districts.
