  • Abstract
This paper introduces a novel protocol for route reconstruction that maximizes the throughput of point to multi-point (P-MP) communication on ad-hoc wireless networks. Route reconstruction is triggered when a route becomes invalid. New routes are discovered by broadcasting route discovery (RD) packets. The proposed protocol transmits RD packets to source terminals and adopts the hop-limit technique. The information resulting from the route reconstruction process is transmitted to source terminals directly, so the proposed protocol realizes rapid route reconstruction. The hop-limit technique limits the route investigation area and this suppresses overhead of the RD packet traffic. Computer simulation results confirm that the proposed protocol is more suitable for P-MP communication over wireless ad-hoc networks than two common conventional protocols
