Abstract
This paper presents an antenna system suitable for cognitive radio applications. It consists of two pairs of antennas. The first one is a wide band antenna that monitors the channel in order to identify the idle parts of the spectrum. The second antenna has a frequency and radiation pattern tuning ability. This antenna communicates at different frequency bands as well as at different radiation directions. The directions of radiation depend on the locations of cognitive radio users. A prototype is fabricated, tested and compared with the simulated design where good analogy is found.
