Abstract
The Monitor National Marine Sanctuary, managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), protects the wreck of the famous Civil War ironclad warship USS Monitor. Recent research has revealed that the Monitor is deteriorating at an alarming rate causing NOAA to initiate an aggressive program of applying ocean technology to the problems of protecting the Monitor
