Abstract :
This paper presents a novel design of a 4×4 two-layer wideband Butler matrix using CPW multilayer directional coupler and a novel CPW wideband directional elliptic coupler. With this new configuration, the proposed matrix was designed to avoid using crossovers as employed in conventional Butler matrices, which allows reducing the size, the loss of the network and the complexity of the design and leads to a broad bandwidth of 3 GHz.
