Abstract :
Combining Wireless and ATM to provide broadband wireless connections and bypass local loop infrastructure, delivering better than 10Mb/s bi-directional to the end user. By utilising ATM such in our Siemens-Netro Point to Multi Point system, it becomes possible to provide a system with QOS built in and at the same time able to deliver all legacy and new services on one platform. The Siemens-Netro solution allows Service Providers to plan an extension of the core network thereby addressing those market segments that are off fibre and can not be economically addressed by new cable build. By using Wireless and ATM the Service Provider has the benefits of speed to market, optimised capital outlay is tied to Customer connections not merely Customers passed, Interoperability with Core ATM networks and efficient backhaul of traffic based on ATM multiplexing.
