Abstract :
We describe our experiments using a rolling swivel chair as a control/display platform for exploring multi-standpoint panoramic spaces, characterized not only by 360deg scenes, but also modestly navigable photorealistic spaces, enabled by multinode QTVR movies. Two markers are attached to a prototype chair, one on each armrest. The markers´ locations are tracked by application of image processing techniques to the video stream captured by a ceiling cam, deriving chair displacement and rotation. Using such chair- driven gestures, graphical windows egocentrically displaying the panned and displaced panoramic scene can be dynamically dilated in a GUI root window by active exploration.
