Abstract :
The phenomenon of electrical tree growing under repetitive nanosecond high voltage pulses (fwhm 70ns) is researched in the paper. The single-magnetic pulse compression system is used in these experiments. The pure polyethylene material is adopted as the experimental sample. To reduce the random dispersion of experiments´ results, every test sample had six needle electrodes with a uniform spacing distribution. The experiments´ results show the correlation between tree growth rate and the related factors such as voltage and frequency. The interested phenomenon of stress fracture inside the samples is found in the experiments.
