Abstract
With the city developing rapidly, the urban inhabitable environment has been changing in Changchun City. Based on the Landsat ETM+&TM remotely sensed data and the RS&GIS analysis technology, the urban expansion and green space change of Changchun City in resent ten years were analyzed. Over the past ten years, the urban constructed areas had increased dramatically, the average annual expansion area was 9.39km2, and it was 2.2 times compared with the beginning of 21st century. In accordance with the urban planning, the main directions of urban expansion were north-east, west-east and east-south. The green coverage rate was increased of resent ten years in Changchun City. By 2010, there was 40.88km2 green spaces in the city, up 47.56% over 2001. The ecological environment for human settlements was improving in Changchun City.
