Abstract :
The FCC has mandated that cellular carriers should provide mobile station position location within a given accuracy. Multilateration techniques demand the mobile station to be heard by at least three base stations. A way to improve the visibility of a mobile station is to increase transmit power levels for short periods of time. This capability is known as the power up function (PUF). This work evaluates, based on Campbell´s theorem, the impact of using PUF in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Visibility analysis is also conducted for one and two tier scenarios
