Abstract :
In this paper we investigate the problems caused in active sonar detection by the existence of the reverberation phenomenon. We extend a suboptimal detector already existing in the literature, to the case where the reverberation results from the propagation of linear frequency modulated signals. This suboptimal detector consists firstly in estimating a prewhitener filter on the reverberation data, secondly in whitening the received signal with it, and finally in making a filter matched to the received signal distorted by the prewhitener. At last, we present comparisons between the performances of the classical detector and this new detector processing
