Abstract :
This paper describes the status of internets being used and of Web servers being constructed in Korea, introduces the HIC, and describes considerations and problems in relation to interfacing between the HIC and ATM networks. In order to implement Web applications based on ATM we need a real-time Web service structure. The current ATM network is the KIIT (Korea Information Infrastructure Testbed), so we have to convert current TCP programs into real-time type programs for a real-time Web service. The characteristics can be defined as follows: assurances of real-time features in the transmission delay, the re-selection of the QoS for any links, and a multicasting transmission function to the clients selected. Based on the definition of a real-time Web service we present an HAN/B-ISDN Information Center (HIC) server structure capable of being interfaced with an ATM network
