Abstract :
A new switchless scheme of transmission power control (TPC) function for high power amplifiers (HPAs) is proposed. Ku-band amplifier MMICs that followed this scheme were fabricated and tested. The amplifier MMICs and transmission lines instead of switches were used to construct the HPAwhich has TPC function by switching two amplifiers. Experimental results show that the HPA can achieve significant reduction of dc power at low output power levels under transmission power control.
