Abstract
The aim of this paper is to design photonic-crystal vertical-cavity surface-emitting diode lasers assuring high performance with minimal technological effort. Our study is focused on the reduction of depth of etching and its optimization with respect to the other PC parameters such as the distance between the holes (L) and the holes diameter (a). The advantage lies in the much better beam quality achieved with bottom-emitting PC VCSELs. The presented study concerns 1.3 mum PC VCSEL structure.
