  • Abstract
    Working on the problem of echo sounding in continental waters in order to study the aquatic environment, the authors have developed the portable instrument called Sibelius. The horizontal localization is performed by a satellite-based navigation system, the Global Positioning System, using a differential technique. By associating a transmission unit with the elements of the differential system, the authors obtain extreme reliability and very high precision in the localization for a low investment and with small sized apparatus
