Abstract :
This paper presents 500Mbps 60GHz-band ASK transceivers as the first wireless transmission system for IEEE 1394 multimedia home networks. Direct ASK modulation and demodulation adopting heterojunction FET MMIC switch and detector enable a simple transceiver configuration. Error-free transmissions have been realized for higher than ¿47dBm received power. A couple of IEEE 1394 S400 (400Mbps) wireless adapters have demonstrated 12m line-of-sight transmission and room-to-room connections.
