Abstract :
The cinder, as the filling materials, were filled with the layers of soil to improve the hydraulic permeability of the soil infiltration system in treating domestic wastewater at different hydraulic loading cycle. Larger hydraulic loading cycle was dosed 2 times daily with wastewater at 10 cm/d; shorter hydraulic loading cycle was dosed 16 times daily with wastewater at the same loading. The results showed that treating the wastewater at larger hydraulic loading cycle, COD, ammonia and total phosphorus were removed by 87%, 92%, 98%, respectively, COD, ammonia, total nitrogen and total phosphorus were removed by 92%, 56%, 38%, 97%, respectively, at shorter. The effect of soil and cinder infiltration system on removal of pollutant could be improved significantly by running shorter hydraulic loading cycle.
