Abstract
Wheeler attached prime importance to graphics for representation and analysis of data and as computational tool. Accordingly, for the reflection coefficient plane he developed his own optimal, minimalist, and specialized forms. He early on recognized the utility of stating reflection coefficient in units of dB(SWR), validated by later workers and developments. The (graphical) evaluation of the maximum efficiency of transmission through a 2-port network was a particular achievement.
