Abstract
This paper demonstrates a novel means of feeding a broadband suspended plate antenna, where a coaxial probe-fed capacitive feeder coplanar with the plate is employed. The suspended plate with introduction of capacitive feeder acting as a matching network causes a broad impedance bandwidth. A rectangular suspended plate antenna with a narrow probefed strip has been fabricated and examined experimentally. The proposed design shows good performances with wide impedance bandwidth of up to the order of 30%, stable radiation patterns, and high average gain of 4-5dBi.
