Abstract
In this paper, a novel ultra wideband (UWB) planer antenna is proposed. The antenna is composed of a square ring radiator and partially grounded, which occupies about 3.5 GHz impedance bandwidth covering 5.9 GHz-9.4 GHz. A quasi-omnidirectional and quasi-symmetrical radiation pattern in y-z plane in the whole frequency band is also obtained. The antenna satisfies the requirements of UWB wireless communications verified with the results presented, and will be a good solution for some UWB applications.
