Abstract
Although ID inverse scattering methods are generally valid only for stratified dielectric media, they can be nevertheless successfully utilized for the detection and discrimination of some hidden subsurface objects. Corresponding results for metal and plastic pipes buried in moist sand are presented. A dielectric rod antenna combined with the TEM horn has been proposed. This broadband antenna is characterized by low level of unwanted multiple reflections and thus is suitable for subsurface radar applications. Comparisons of the clutter level for different antennas are done.
