Abstract
In this paper, a predictive block size and search range technique is proposed. This concept is applicable to the fast block matching motion estimation algorithms. In which the size of the blocks and search range is varied, based on the temporal redundancies between the successive frames in the video sequence. This algorithm reduces the computational complexity substantially by maintaining the quality of the video almost same as that of the algorithms with fixed block size and fixed search range.
