Abstract
This paper investigates the photosensitivity of the high performance rare earth doped IOG1 phosphate glass (manufactured by Schott USA), after exposure to 248 nm, 500 fs laser radiation. The IOG1 glass samples used here were codoped with 2.3% wt. Er2O3 and 3.6% wt. Yb2O3 and had thickness of 1 mm. From spectral measurements, the refractive index changes attributed solely to colour centres formation were estimated by employing Kramers-Kronig transformation.
