Abstract :
In the last years, several techniques have been proposed to allow for the simulation of distributed structures together with electronic devices. In this scenario, two promising trends are the (NL2N)-FDTD method, which consists of the incorporation of equivalent circuits of of electronic components into one FDTD cell and the so called "Global Modeling", based on the numerical solution of Maxwell\´s equations and transport equations on the same FDTD framework. In the this work, we illustrate the two approaches by means of application examples: a quasi optical doubler, relying on packaged Schottky diodes, and a Gunn oscillator.
