Abstract :
The authors discuss the need analysis of a clinical database, what it is, what it takes, and how to decide on one. A brief discussion on traditional file processing systems is included. After needs criteria are established, the components of a clinical database, such as environment, funds, personal needs, DBMS software and hardware options are discussed. A decision-making tool is presented through an established database theorem
