Abstract
The paper outlines the major design objectives of a 94 GHz FM-CW radar with a 4 GHz frequency sweep. It discusses in particular the requirements for frequency sweep linearity and the implementation of a linearization circuit. Results demonstrating a range resolution of a few centimeters are presented, as well as results comparing the measured and theoretical radar cross section of cylindrical target scattering points in horizontal and vertical polarizations. It is demonstrated that the radar can separate scattering points as close as 6 cm apart
