Abstract :
Hybrid recording is a novel scheme combining optical recording and magnetic recording (H. Saga et al, J. Magn. Soc. Jpn, vol. 23, suppl. S1, p. 225, 1999). In this paper, basic experiments satisfying the principles of both very high density and ultra high speed writing are shown. We discuss the future capability of the storage device toward Tbit/in2 and 100 Gbps directly coupled to an optical fiber communication network.
