Abstract :
We study modulation methods and develop new receiver detector structures for CMOS direct conversion receivers with notch filters. A DC notch filter is required in a direct conversion receiver to remove the undesired offset, generated by self-mixing products, and 1/f flicker noise of the down-converted signal. However, doing so introduces distortion onto the desired signal by attenuating its low frequency content. Our new detector structures help to overcome this induced distortion and help make direct conversion architectures feasible
