Abstract :
The authors present a package using microcomputer with full graphic features to simulate supply interruption in a typical distribution network to train operation personnel for speedy power restoration. Simulated faults can be generated randomly by the software program or applied by the user, to either the bus side or circuit side of a particular feeder in the network. The package has subprograms to calculate and display the fault current distribution, the line flows and to simulate operation of overcurrent relays responding to the fault. As a training tool, the simulator provides `pause´ facility to allow the user to fully acknowledge the operating conditions, or to be sure of his intermediate response before entering into the next scene of the supply interruption simulation
