  • Abstract
This paper examines the practical issues involved in building high-order delta-sigma modulators through the design and implementation of a switched capacitor (SC) eighth-order bandpass modulator. The design process adopted is illustrated starting from the theoretical noise transfer function (NTF) through to the consideration of practical implementation issues. The design verification procedure is also discussed and the effects of process variation in terms of both performance and stability are examined. A prototype modulator has been implemented in a 0.8 μm BiCMOS process and is currently under fabrication
