Abstract :
The requirements concerning an electrical machine are defined by the application. Due to widely electrifications in different applications, such as the increasing demand in hybrid vehicles or electric vehicles, the classical requirements for electrical machines have changed. Moreover, further investigations that deal with the substitution of mechanical and hydraulic systems will lead to additional and constantly increasing requirements the design process of an electrical machine has to meet up with. Therefore the appearing factors such as the volume or the mass of an electrical machine need to be taken urgently into account. Already at the beginning of the design process the engineer has to respond to those additional requirements and must never violate them during the whole design process. With the principals presented in this paper, the requirements defined above will be met.
