Abstract :
Increasingly sophisticated sensor systems are being deployed on military platforms, with ever larger signal transport and signal processing requirements, with decreasing latency. This drives the need for high efficiency dynamic optical networks. Ultimately optical packet switching is envisioned to be required where fast and dynamic optical routing and optical packets with short preambles are required. Optical wavelength routing in combination with fast wavelength switching can satisfy this requirement. In this paper, a wavelength switched burst-mode optical wavelength router architecture based on RZ-DPSK optical modulation format is presented.
