Abstract
Station related outages could have considerable impact on the reliability of a composite generation and transmission system. Different station configurations can have quite different effects on the system reliability performance and these effects should be considered prior to selecting a particular configuration. This paper presents a relatively straightforward method for including station configuration in a composite system reliability study. The method is presented in detail by application to a ring bus configuration and used to evaluate the effects of stations in an analysis of the IEEE-reliability test system. The effects on the system reliability of station modifications at selected buses in the IEEE-reliability test system are also presented.
