  • Abstract
This paper presents the IcosФ control strategy for VFC (voltage and frequency controller) in a stand-alone WECS (wind energy conversion system) using an IAG (isolated asynchronous generator) feeding three phase four wire loads. A IcosФ control strategy is used to extract the fundamental component of three phase load currents and the estimation of frequency for IAG. The proposed VFC consists of a three leg voltage source converter (VSC) with a (BESS) battery energy storage system at its dc bus. The three phase interfacing inductors are connected at the mid-point of each leg of VSC. The proposed VFC in a stand-alone WECS is capable of doing harmonic eliminations, load balancing, and voltage regulation. The proposed VFC in a stand-alone WECS is modeled and results are simulated in MATLAB R2013b using simpower systems toolboxes.
