Abstract :
A magnetic and electric field probe is used to measure fields in a circular waveguide to determine the strength of three propagating modes. The mode strengths travelling in both the forward and reverse directions are determined at the source and at the load. Substantial mode conversion is found to exist and the losses in the aluminium waveguide are found to be substantially larger than predicted by theory
