Abstract
This paper presents a concept of phase control of voltages in a power system by the means of a matrix converter. A special control strategy of a matrix converter, which enables to shift voltage curves without changes of their amplitudes is described. Such a power electronics unit consists of two 3-phase input and N-phase output transformers and a matrix converter with N-phases input and output, what insure high fault tolerance level. Preliminary simulations for an idealized unit with 6times6 matrix converter is presented, to test the idea of the phase control
