Abstract :
The European ACTS programme funds a number of major WDM projects in the area of optical networking for both transport and access applications. Currently many projects are in their final year and are preparing or completing their field demonstrations. The results from these trials will enable a realistic assessment to be made of the challenge associated with the deployment of optical networks and systems
