Abstract :
Deregulation demands seamless flow of relevant data amongst the power system entities, both to ensure reliable operation and maintain competitive electricity markets. The data items needed to achieve the various objectives should be clearly identified. This paper presents the applicability of using CIM data model for exchange of operational data and also to transmit competitive time-sensitive information to market players. The existing datapath in the restructured electrical systems involves numerous physical and analytical components employing various communication technologies. The standardization effort pertaining to communications in EMS and SCADA, in restructured power system operations, is also reviewed. The proposed architectures fulfill the requirements to include newer communication technologies like cellular and wireless.
