Abstract
We provide an overview of transformation optics and its applications. It is shown that the permeability and permittivity can be understood as providing an effective geometry for electromagnetic waves. We can temporarily forget about the material parameters and instead use geometry to design optical devices, which can greatly simplify the procedure. Several examples of this are given.
