Abstract
This article presents an overview of the numerical Laplace transform (NLT) technique for analyzing power system transients. The relevance of this technique as complement to standard time domain analysis methods is discussed. A brief historic account is made of the developments that gave rise to the NLT technique. The essentials of the technique are given. An account of various current practices in the implementation of the NLT is discussed and an application example is included.
