Abstract
In this paper, proportional and integral controller and fuzzy controller are compared for full bridge buck converter in terms of implementation and performance. Full Bridge Buck converter is most preferred topology for power conditioning systems for renewable energy sources like fuel cell. Traditionally PI/PID is used for controlling DC-DC converters because its designing is straightforward and based on frequency response of converters. Designing of fuzzy controller requires heuristic knowledge of converter behavior and experience of expert for tuning. The study demonstrates that the performance of fuzzy controller is superior to PI controller in terms of better transient and stable steady state response as the fuzzy logic scheme captures the approximate and inexact nature of the system through expert linguistic description and proper tuning of membership functions.
