Abstract
A modeling method of lossy interconnect using measured S parameters is presented. In this method, measured S parameters are band-limited, and a lossy interconnect represented by the equivalent lossy nonuniform transmission line using frequency independent per unit length parameters. For the dispersion characteristic of lossy interconnect, the equivalent lossy nonuniform transmission lines are synthesized in both the time and the frequency domain respectively, and these per unit length parameters are different. The Inverse-FDTD method with an optimization technique is used to synthesize the equivalent lossy nonuniform transmissionline in the time domain. To confirm the validation of this method, the equivalent nonuniform transmission lines are compared with measurements and the 3-D electromagnetic simulations.
