Abstract :
This paper presents Thai boxing martial art (TBMA) computer assisted instruction (CAI) using 3D forward kinematic animation. The 3D models of Thai boxers designed with Poser 7 are imported to 3DS Max 2008 and added with a biped to make them to move the organs. The paper builds a ring and arranges models of the Thai boxers which are put on the ring. Then it makes animations of 15 basic postures of TBMA and renders them to picture frames. After that a graphic user interface (GUI) of CAI is created with Adobe Flash CS3 in which animations of rendered pictures for the 15 basic postures are imported whilst Action Script commands of Adobe Flash CS3 are used for controlling buttons and mouse. The GUI and 15 basic postures are exported to .swf (Flash Movie file) and save main file to .exe (Application File) for running the programs. Finally, the 3D Thai boxing CAI program is brought for testing using 20 students. The result shows that students can understand to receive a higher knowledge of the TBMA from the 3D Thai boxing CAI program.
