Abstract
Smart antenna technology has been used to improve the performance of wireless communication systems. In this paper frequency extrapolation is used for obtaining a high resolution capability for base station antenna arrays. A new algorithm based on the eigenvector decomposition is developed for adaptively resolving transmitters which are located close to each other. Initial simulations show that this technique performs as well as existing techniques for low signal to noise ratios. However, in high signal to noise environments, the proposed technique outperforms the existing algorithms.
