Abstract
Improvements in the resolution and the dynamic range of the CTS (Chirp Transform Spectrometer) were achieved thanks to the development of microstrip devices, mathematical modeling of microwave components and the use of adaptive digital technologies. CTS is part of GREAT (German REceiver At Terahertz frequencies), a first-generation dual-channel heterodyne instrument for high-resolution spectroscopy aboard the airborne observatory SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy).
