  • Abstract
We are interested in allocating resources on the up/down link UDL of a low earth orbit LEO satellite constellation. Radio links constitute a scarce resource that needs to be shared efficiently between different users with different needs. In this paper, two service classes are considered: real time voice service and non real time data service. A mixed service at the burst level for voice and at the packet level for data is considered. This is motivated by the fact that a service at the call level appears to be a waste of bandwidth for the voice class. As for data, the sporadic nature of this service justifies the packet level service. Queues are associated with each class. Access to the channel is assumed to be structured into frames and the movable boundary MB approach is applied in order to separate, on the basis of the ongoing voice bursts as well as the queues´ occupation level, each frame into two compartments associated each with the service of each of the classes. The purpose of this approach is to accommodate a greater number of communications while respecting the quality of service QoS requirements.
